The following is from the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Authority, via nextdoor.com:
WATERLINE REPLACEMENT PROJECT SET TO BEGIN ON OCTOBER 12—RESIDENTS SHOULD EXPECT WESTBOUND CLOSURES ALONG GRIEGOS. Crews are scheduled to begin a project to replace waterlines in your neighborhood beginning on October 12, 2026. Phase 1 will begin on the east end of the project, closing westbound Griegos Road NW at 12th Street to Grande Drive NW. We expect Griegos Road between 12th Street and Grande to be completed and reopened by mid-November.
Crews will also be “potholing” the various areas in Phase 1 beginning on October 12 to locate the waterlines before digging begins; there will be small, temporary closures for this process. Phase 1 roads will be temporarily closed for asphalt removal (milling) on October 19 and 20 from Grande Drive NW west to Guadalupe Trail, 14th Street, Ponderosa Avenue, Teodocio Road, and Pedroncelli Court NW; residents and motorists can drive on the milled roadway after barricades are removed. (NOTE: All work is weather permitting and subject to change without notice)
Regular work hours will be Monday-Thursday 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., but barricading will remain in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for safety.
Next planned street closure: Griegos Road from Grande Drive NW to Guadalupe Trail
Phase 1 is scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2026.

This waterline replacement project has a scheduled completion date of May 2027.
How will this improvement project impact you?
1. Access will be maintained to all residences on closed roads. Residents can drive through the construction zone. Always drive through the work zone slowly and use caution. Please speak with the construction crews for any concerns you have regarding access to your home.
2. There will be NO STREET PARKING IN THE CLOSED SECTIONS of roadway.
3. For trash pick-up days, place your trash bin in its usual spot. The City of Albuquerque will be notified of this construction and the crews will accommodate the solid waste truck on trash days.
4. Contractors will do everything possible to ensure that the water service is maintained for the duration of the project. However, emergencies or planned shut offs may occur during construction.
a. Emergency (un-planned) shut offs: no advance notice.
b. Planned shut offs: advance notice detailing the service interruption date and times.
Thank you for your patience while we work to improve Albuquerque’s infrastructure.
